I'm Johnny van Wyk
I’m a fully qualified accountant with 24 years of accounting experience, both in public practice and the commercial environments.
I hold three Accounting Degrees, and I’m a member of the Accountants & Tax Agents Institute of New Zealand (ATAINZ), ensuring my knowledge and skills remain up to date and relevant with continuous industry training.
I started my career in South Africa where I completed my articles and qualified as an accountant. I continued my studies for a Masters Degree and qualified as a Forensic Accountant in 2007. I specialised in forensic accounting and fraud investigations for the next 8 years before moving to New Zealand with my family.
After arriving in New Zealand, I started as Senior Accountant with BDO in Napier, before moving into the commercial environment with Johnny Appleseed (The Yummy Fruit Company), as a Analyst and Management Accountant for their fruit growing operations in Hawkes Bay. A year after starting with them, I moved into the Financial Controller role. I subsequently moved to WilliamsWarn as Financial Controller and then to Lowe Corporation in the same position before starting my own accounting practice in 2020. Now I use my knowledge and experience to help people just like you grow their small businesses.

My Story
Profit Accounting was founded as a result of my passion for small businesses, and the need for a different type of relationship between business owners and their accountant. Business has drastically changed over the past couple of years, and I’ve found that your traditional accounting firms are not offering the services and support needed by the businesses out there. That’s why I do things a bit different…
